A Career in Golf Starts Here

As students finish their final semester of college, many begin exploring what comes next. Some are interested in operations, development, environmental work, hospitality, events, marketing, sales, technology, or architecture. What many do not realize is that the golf industry includes all of these career paths — and you do not need golf experience to be part of it.

That message was front and center when the ASU Sports Business program visited the Arizona Golf House to learn more about the industry. During their visit, students heard from representatives of the eight associations housed in the building and learned how each organization helps support the game of golf. They also heard personal stories from professionals who found their way into the industry through different paths.

Gaby Speh, Managing Director of the Southwest Chapter of the Club Management Association of America (CMAA), shared her own story. When she came to the United States, she began volunteering with CMAA simply because she wanted to help. She attended events, joined meetings, and got involved wherever she could.

“Eventually, opportunities came my way,” Speh said. “I became living proof that this industry welcomes people who work hard, care deeply, and become part of the family.”

Today, Speh leads the Southwest Chapter, which serves Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico. Her journey is a great example of how the golf industry welcomes people who are willing to learn, contribute, and grow.

The Arizona Golf House is a place where professionals and future professionals can discover the many opportunities available in golf. The eight associations in the building are always looking for intelligent, passionate, and caring individuals who want to make a lasting impact. Whether you are an avid golfer or have never touched a club, the golf industry has a place for you.
